Old church tower on the hill and desperate town down below Wild weather come and fire bloom while stray sparks and heat gather and spill “Take this as gospel” the preacher howled, “the hills will burn and beasts will roam” “We’ll take knifes and fight back” the butcher called, “then tether and tangle and hang them high on the hills ablaze above the river below”

SAILMAKER 03:15
Further back than memory serves to go when plains were vast and uncleared. Before houses and homes the bent river flowed to sea, and that great ocean crashed in great colour on the coast The southern wind still churns and salt air scalds making the grey of the clouds Rise and fall does the tide where my blood is in the sand Through a century names have changed from a sailmaker to that of a maker of barrels, and those plains now bear buildings but the bent river flows from church tower to sea The southern wind still churns and salt air scalds where salvation bloomed purple on the hills, where my blood is in the soil Conceptually the EP (SAILMAKER) is based on the Noarlunga region of South Australia, in particular Old Noarlunga, the changing of family names, and the squandering of land and birth rights over the last century. These stories have their origin initially explored on Bronze Chariot’s album NIGREDO, released in 2011 with lyrics to Horseshoe Bend being written by my brother Benjamin Cooper and delivered by me.

BROAD RIVER 03:56
Trust and cross the broad river, there waits a crowd carolling curses of lost men who went to wash and drowned Old barrelling tide that pulled them under, brilliant and strong in colours of bronze now lapping on ledges from floods that swept through Curling reeds in water with tides running through them, they hum a song to me from church tower to sea Winding and bold the river flows and gleams with blood from distant family and oil the origin of their skin Conceptually the EP (SAILMAKER) is based on the Noarlunga region of South Australia, in particular Old Noarlunga, the changing of family names, and the squandering of land and birth rights over the last century. These stories have their origin initially explored on Bronze Chariot’s album NIGREDO, released in 2011 with lyrics to Horseshoe Bend being written by my brother Benjamin Cooper and delivered by me.
